Live Moozie the Cow Presentations

(Photos courtesy Franklin Head Start - Franklin, TN)

Moozie the Cow, mascot and ambassador for kindness, travels to schools teaching children about the importance of being kind to others, being kind to animals, being kind to the earth and being kind to self. These 20 minute presentations provide a chance for the children to interact with Moozie, the life-size talking and moving (robotic) cow, using monologues, dialogue, songs, poems, and storytelling.

Focusing on children from the ages of two to five, the program is designed to assist local preschool teachers in their efforts to develop the pro-social behavior of kindness and empathy during these impressionable years. "Character education is a vital part of early childhood development. Attitudes formed in early years influence children for the rest of their lives," says Ted Dreier founder of the Children's Kindness Network. "Moozie the cow is a gentle, fun and informative ambassador for kindness, as well as a figure that children relate to immediately. Moozie was researched and developed to effectively teach the important social behavior of kindness."

Moozie ceases to be a robotic cow the moment the children begin responding to Moozie's questions and singing with her. "Kindness is a learned behavior, teaching children about being kind, sharing, taking turns, and respecting other's feelings can reduce bullying behaviors later in their school years, and improve their social interaction with other children and adults" says Dreier.

Teacher Workshops: Assisting Teachers

The goal of this program is to assist teachers in understanding how they unknowingly, or knowingly, may be role modeling behaviors and attitudes that build a culture of kindness or work against a culture of kindness. The key, model the behavior you want to teach. Teachers are also given the latest research and findings on the importance of brain wiring which takes place between ages 2-5. A child's brain is 90% wired by age of five.

Parent Workshops: Assisting Parents and Caregivers

Every time we come in contact with a pre-K child, we are a part of their brain wiring, whether parents, grandparents or other care givers. Understanding the long lasting impact adult interaction with these children is critical. Are they being prepared for social-emotional challenges ahead of them. The key with care-givers is to model the behavior desired for the child to exhibit.

For care-givers who have their children being taught the Moozie Kindness Curriculum, they will get an overview of what their child will be experiencing.
